Dogs come when they are called; Cats take a message and get back to you at their convenience

The Team that will love & care for your pets!

Dr. Asma Shah

Dr. Asma Shah is a true example of the American Dream. Originally from Pakistan. Dr. Shah came to the USA with determination and a heart full of compassion and through her dedication she is making the world a better place for people and their pets. Through years of hard work and study, she achieved her dream of opening her own veterinary practice. Dr. Shah wanted to be free from corporate influence and centered on personalized, affordable high-quality care. Fresh out of school, Dr. Shah took a position at one of the big corporate chains where she learned exactly what she did not want to do with her patients! Dr. Shah is able to laugh now about getting in trouble for not charging to cut one nail! Dr. Shah treats her clients as she would want to be treated by having empathy, patience, and transparency in what she offers.

A graduate of the University of Veterinary Sciences in Pakistan, Dr. Shah completed her clinical training at Iowa State University before practicing for 11 years in Indiana. Her vision for Grand Oaks Pet Hospital is to provide exceptional medicine in a warm, welcoming, and fear-free environment. She is especially passionate about being a true family veterinarian, helping parents balance the needs of both children and pets with realistic, practical solutions that keep the entire household safe and happy.

Dr. Shah’s professional interests include radiology, internal medicine, and dermatology. She is a proud member of the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Shah enjoys life with her husband,

Dr. Muhammad Malik, a kidney and hypertension specialist in Orlando, along with their two children and three cats. In her free time, she loves painting, spending time with family, and watching football.

Her spirit animal is a cat!

Dr. Nancy

We are so excited to have Dr. Nancy as part of our team! Currently, Dr. Nancy is with us just one day a week. In just a short while, she has already made a wonderful impression on both clients and staff with her kindness and expertise.

Dr. Nancy knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of 10.

A Jersey girl at heart, she began her education in Morris County, NJ, continued at Virginia Tech, and then completed her veterinary degree in Ireland. She and her family moved to Davenport only a few years ago, where she now enjoys the flexibility of working as a relief veterinarian.

At home, Dr. Nancy’s life is filled with love from her seven pets: three dogs, two cats, a rabbit, and a horse. When she isn’t caring for patients, she enjoys liberty training with her horse, crocheting, scrap-booking, sewing, and reading.

She volunteers her time caring for a tiger named Saber!

Dr. Nancy is married and the proud mom of two adult children. Passionate about the future of veterinary medicine, she hopes to mentor aspiring veterinarians. We feel lucky to have her on our team!

Her spirit animal is a dog!

Kaleigh

Kaleigh’s love for animals shines through in everything she does. While she doesn’t currently have pets in her apartment, she adores her three cats who live with her mom, Zuko, Bella, and Tygra. Kaleigh keeps the memory of her beloved Chloe close to her heart, often speaking of her with the deepest love.

A pittie’s affection is truly like no other, Kaleigh knows that well.

From a young age, she dreamed of working in the veterinary field. She always proudly declared that she wanted to be a veterinarian on career days. Now, she is even considering going back to school to pursue that dream fully.

Kaleigh is in charge of the front desk, multiple times a day, someone will say, Kaleigh knows how to do that! Thankfully now with a full staff, Kaleigh is able to spend more time with the animals but be close by to assist whoever is at the front.

In her free time, Kaleigh enjoys reading and watching movies—especially when a cat decides her lap is the perfect place to curl up.

We are so lucky to have her as part of our Grand Oaks team!

Her spirit animal is a cat!

Jodie

Hiring Jodie was an easy decision for many fantastic reasons. One of the most memorable moments came just minutes into her interview. Our manager, Wendy, placed her Pocket Pit Bull on the exam table and said, “Get her blood,” without offering any further details. Jodie simply smiled, calmly looked at Dr. Shah to confirm her preferred method, opened the drawer as if she’d worked at Grand Oaks Pet Hospital for years, selected the correct needle, and—BOOM—she nailed it on the first try. A full vial of blood, not so much as a whine from the dog.

Talk about grace under pressure!

With more than fifteen years of experience, Jodie has perfected her patient care skills. Though new to Orlando, she already feels like she’s found her second home here at the hospital. Outside of work, Jodie enjoys life with her husband, daughter, grandson, two dogs (Midnight and Snickers), and her three cats - Vander, Jinx, and Sophie. When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll likely find her spending time with her grandson, tending to her horticulture projects, or enjoying some well-deserved quiet time.

Jodie's future goals include excelling her profession and being an amazing role model to honor her Mother in law and late grandmother.

Her spirit animal is an elephant!

luna

Luna is a Diva of all Divas! Luna used to live with five cats but oddly enough, Luna does not like other cats. Most clients do not know about our treatment room supervisor as she likes to stay tucked away in the back away from the hustle and bustle! Luna almost went to the shelter as she was very naughty at her original home. As soon as Dr. Shah opened the hospital she grabbed Luna up! Luna does not mind most dogs.

Her spirit animal is a sloth!

Millianna

Millianna is often spotted supervising the cats that come into the hospital. She hasn’t quite realized that most cats prefer to be left alone, but give Millianna credit, her determination is unmatched!

Every day, Millianna is ready to come to work alongside her mom, Wendy. At first glance, her breed might make her look intimidating, but Millianna is the perfect reminder not to judge a book by its cover. She’s the biggest mush you’ll ever meet. Millianna absolutely loves attention. Stop by and say hello, you’ll know she’s happy to see you when her tail starts wagging like crazy! If you don’t see her right away, chances are she’s curled up under the desk catching a nap.

Millianna has big dreams, too. One day she hopes to join the Pet Therapy Program at Orlando Health, showing the world that while bully breeds sometimes get a bad rap, when they’re loved and socialized, their affection is truly unmatched.

Her spirit animal is a cat!

Safia

Safia is currently in college majoring in Biology with the goal of pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. She has always had a big heart for animals, and working at Grand Oaks Pet Hospital gives her an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience while continuing her studies.

Originally Safia began shadowing Dr. Shah for school purposes, and during that time, she was offered the position of receptionist. This role allows her to see how every part of the clinic works together to provide excellent care, giving her valuable insight into the many aspects of veterinary medicine.

Safia states she admires Dr. Shah’s dedication and passion, and hopes to one day become a licensed veterinarian, performing surgeries and helping animals in need.

Safia was born and raised in Florida and plans to continue her education here. At home, she shares her life with three cats, Moose, a Siamese Gaya, a Persian, and Gori, a Ragdoll. Outside of school and work, Safia loves spending time with family and friends, playing volleyball, enjoying dessert outings, and, of course, giving her cats all her love and attention.

We are so grateful to have Safia as part of the Grand Oaks Pet Hospital team. She states she feels lucky to work alongside such compassionate and inspiring people every day, the feeling is mutual!

Her spirit animal is a tiger!

Sonya

Sonya’s pride and joy is her beloved dog, Robaire, her spoiled little fluff of a love bug! Her big heart shines through in the way she shows unconditional love to every pet who comes through our doors. Sonya is often seen singing or dancing with our sick patients to lift their spirits, bringing comfort and joy to both pets and their families.

With a natural ability to connect with animals as well as people, Sonya splits her time between nursing duties and helping at the reception desk. Sonya is considering furthering her education to advance in the veterinary field, a career she is deeply passionate about.

If she weren’t here with us, Sonya imagines herself living on a farm surrounded by cows, a dream that reflects her love for all creatures, big and small. In her free time, she enjoys building puzzles and spending time at Disney.

We are lucky to have Sonya’s compassion, energy, and dedication as part of our team!

Her spirit animal is a cow!

Wendy

Wendy first came to Grand Oaks Pet Hospital as a client, but after retiring from her previous career in October 2024. She officially joined our team in December -2024. What she thought would be a temporary position to help get the hospital updated quickly turned into something more! Wendy fell in love with the work, the people, and of course the pets.

Now, she jokes that she may never retire again!

Wherever Wendy goes, her dog Millianna is always close behind. At home, she is also a proud mom to nineteen cats, three dogs, and a collection of fish. Her dream is to one day live on a farm, where she could welcome even more dogs and finally raise the flock of chickens she’s always wanted.

In her spare time, Wendy devotes herself to animal welfare by volunteering at Orange County Animal Shelter, fostering kittens, and participating in Trap-Neuter-Release efforts. Her dedication and compassion make her an invaluable part of the Grand Oaks Pet Hospital.

Her spirit animal is a dog.

Wilson

Wilson lost his leg being thrown out of a car window. A lady witnessed a car driving erratically when she saw the car fling out a paper bag from the window. The lady just happened to be one of our rescue partners, Candy from Candy's Cats! Candy stopped and was horrified to find a tiny kitten inside the bag. She rushed the kitten to Grand Oaks Pet Hospital. Dr. Shah was not sure this little kitten would make it but the leg definitely needed to come off. Dr. Shah left for the night not knowing if the kitten would survive the night but to her surprise and pleasure, he did! Dr. Shah nursed him through recovery as he became the official office mascot.

Wilson lives at the clinic which confuses some people of why! Wilson is very busy during opening hours, entertaining people who stop by just to pet him, amusing the office staff, instigating cats that are in carriers and dogs that are on leashes as Wilson runs wherever he wants, and loving on clients waiting for their pets to be finished. By the time the evening comes, Wilson goes to his kennel on his own.

He is very happy to get a good nights rest -alone.

His spirit animal is an elephant... a sign of luck and love.

We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.
